CURRENT SPECIAL SERVE OPPORTUNITIES/OUTREACH EVENTS

OLIVE CREST ORANGE COUNTY
We are in the process of building a relationship with Olive Crest who is dedicated to Preventing child abuse, to Treating and Educating at-risk children and to Preserving the family… “One Life at a Time."  We will eventually be able to meet with foster kids, take them for ice cream and just hang out and get to know them.
IMMEDIATE NEED:
They are hosting a Foster Parent/Adoptive Parent Appreciation Dinner November 3, and could use our support.  All of their funding that was to be used for their event has fallen through and they need the following to help support this event:
Gift baskets for the foster/adopt parents - filled with gift cards for them to go out on a date night; meals, movie, etc.  Anything that you would like to receive that would help you to feel appreciated.
Drop baskets at the Welcome Center by Wednesday, October 31, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Team World Vision
This is a great family outreach event where you and your life group can come out together to serve our faithful runners as they begin their training and prepare to run the LA Marathon in the Spring. What is so cool about this is that they are running and raising funds to provide clean water for families in Africa and your donation of time and money will help to give life to families in need.
Where:  Every Saturday morning:  Palos Verdes High School (600 Cloyden Road) at 7:30am, November 3 - March 16.
Ways to serve on Saturday mornings:
1. Cheerleaders! Set up stations for water/snacks, make motivational signs, and just encourage our runners. We of course welcome cheerleaders at all of our Saturday morning group runs, but below is a list of days when they will especially be appreciated.

2. Course markers. We need someone who can commit to marking our course with chalk and/or signs on Saturday mornings (or Friday nights) before we head out. A small rotating team of people would be great for this. I can send out course maps to these folks.
3. Attendance/security monitors. We need someone who can be in charge of our sign-in/out sheet, be a watching eye for any late-comers, and just sit with our Team World Vision banner while we're out running.
Ways to serve that don't require getting up early on Saturday mornings:
1. Donate healthy snacks & water for our runners.
2. Host a fundraising event. (Great for small business owners!)
3. Donate running/fitness gear for team swag/giveaways/prizes.
4. Donate to Team World Vision!
Days when we can especially use cheerleaders:
November 3 (our first day!)
November 17 (5K test run)
December 22 (Christmas Sweater Day)
December 29 (5K/10K test run)
January 12 (long run)
January 26 (long run)
February 2 (long run)
February 16 (long run)
March 2 (longest run)
