You’ve spent a long time dreaming, how are the dreams coming in the second half of life? I am John Thill, pastor of ministry to people in the second half of life at Rolling Hills Covenant. We exist to help people navigate the challenges and opportunities of life after 50. There are 10,800 people turning 50 everyday in the United States, and the transition that moves people into mid-life and beyond is unique to all that has gone before. As a boy in the 1950’s I remember watching a prominent Hollywood actor playing a heroic crime fighter on television, I was enthralled. I would never have guessed that 50 years later I would be sitting on the couch in his living room where he committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. I had been appointed his wife’s conservator by the Los Angeles Superior Court. He did not end well, although he was rich and famous.
It is our conviction that the older a person gets the more valuable they are and rather than marginalize them, as so much of our culture does, it is our goal to help them thrive through each of the innings in the second half. What does a successful second half look like to you? What will it take for you to finish well and enjoy each of the plays of the game? It is these questions, and many more like them, that we are working together to address and answer.
Most of us remember being young when all we could do was wish we were 12, or 16, or 18, or 21, or 85. Well scratch that last one. For many, aging is an enemy to be avoided at all costs, but for the person who understands God’s promises and purposes in the second half of life, the years after 50 are remarkable not because they are "golden" but because they can be "godly."
If you would like to join a group of people who are real, relevant and wrestling with what it means to live in God’s fullness during the second half, we would like to invite you to look at the following options:
Re-Generation
Re-Generation is the new name for our 50+ ministry based on three goals for people in the second half of life:
1. Re-generate middle and senior adults with a new understanding of God, His Word and the work He calls us to.
2. Re-generate others by understanding the role people 50+ have to “declare God’s power” to all the generations.
3. Re-generate the church by bringing the generations together in fellowship, ministry, and relationships.

Based on the premise that life-long learning is essential to success in life’s second half, we offer classes, forums and discussion groups including: Bible study, discussion of current events, knitting and crocheting, conversational Spanish, and bridge. Contact:

Voyagers Class
Voyagers is a Sunday Morning class meeting in Carlson Hall where we study God’s word with the goal of understanding and applying God’s truth to the issues that face us in the second half. We are working to live Deuteronomy 32:7, "Remember the days of old, consider the generations long past. Ask your father and he will tell you, your elders, and they will explain to you." We want to be a group of people who are filled with God’s wonder and inspire others to know and live in the power of God (Psa. 71:18).
With a rich combination of fellowship, relationships, special events, and ministry opportunities we are calling people in the second half of life to astonishment at the promise and purposes of God. Where as many older people become shoulder shruggers, "Well that’s just the way it is", or cliché givers, "Don't worry - be happy"; we are asking God to make us believable examples and declarers of God’s truth to each other and to those with whom he gives us influence.
We at times join with classes of other generations to discuss God’s word and the application of His truth to practical issues of life.
