Becoming a Member Print E-mail
"Membership in this church is granted to anyone who through faith in God's Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, has been born anew to a living hope, desires to live a Christian life, promises to support the total ministry of this church and to share its fellowship and obligations. It is recommended that each be baptized." --RHCC Constitution

Our congregation welcomes members four times a year at the Quarterly Congregational Business Meetings in September, November, February and May.  Go to Downloads for copies of meeting minutes. Prior to these meetings, individuals seeking to become members complete the membership application and participate in an interview with a member of the RHCC pastoral team to discuss how you came to faith in Jesus Christ, and how your unique gifts and talents can be used to bless the church and the community at large.

Recommended Process for Membership
1. Attend our Starting Point class. To register or for more information about Starting Point, contact Adult Ministries at 310.521.2530.

2. Turn in a completed Membership Application to the Director of Ministry Services.
     Download membership application here

3. You will be contacted by a pastor or elder to set up your Membership Interview appointment.

4. Attend your Membership Interview appointment where you will have the opportunity to share your personal testimony.

5. Attend the next regularly scheduled quarterly Congregational Business Meeting following your Membership interview appointment. The names of prospective members are read and then approved by congregational vote. Please check the weekly worship folder and Expressions newsletter for the date of this meeting.

6. Within a few weeks following the Congregational Business Meeting, you will receive your Letter of Membership in the mail.
Benefits of Membership
  • Ability to vote at Congregational Business Meetings and have a voice in decision-making. These meetings are conducted a minimum of once each quarter and more often as required. Issues of budget, policy, doctrine, membership, and church purpose come before the congregation for discussion and vote.
  • Eligibility to serve as a church officer and on one of ten Commissions: Children's; Local Outreach; Worship, Music and Creative Arts; Global Outreach; Stewardship; Personnel; Finance and Property; Student Commission; Adult Ministries; and Spiritual Formation. The commissions design and implement policy and programs for their area, and are accountable to the Church Council and congregation.
  • Eligibility to serve as a Church Elder and serve on the Church Council. The Council delegates authority and responsibility for particular Church ministries to the commissions.
  • Eligibility for support for overseas missions. Should you be called to serve as a short- or long-term missionary, membership provides you eligibility to receive financial support from the church.
